Cynthia Johnson, affectionately known as “Cyndi" and lovingly called "Unga" by many, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in New Salem, Massachusetts, at the age of 55, surrounded by all of her loved ones. Born on November 29, 1969, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to Richard and Joan Johnson, she brought warmth and joy to all who knew her throughout her life.
Cyndi was a devoted daughter to Richard Johnson and the late Joan Johnson. She shared deep bonds with her family.
Cyndi was survived by her siblings Karen Marion and her husband Terry, Marjorie Peter and her husband Doug, Donald Johnson and Julie, Earl Johnson, her children Daryl Johnson, Joanie Proctor and husband Dillon, her 4 beautiful grandbabies Adalyn, Jaylin, Zoey, and Cooper, Chosen family- Yvonne Mumblo and 4 other grand babies Morgan, Jacoby, Bryson and Shelby. Neices and Nephews, Vanessa, Savannah, Brandon, Samantha, Valarie, Mellisa, Ashley, Stormie, Jeremy, Donald JR., Brittany, Lisa, Richard, Joel, Jamie, Charlene, Makayla, and Jeffree, many great nephews, and neices.
She is predeceased by her mother, Joan Johnson, brother Kurt Johnson, favorite ex husband and best friend Larry Laffond, extended daughter Ashley Caulk and nephew Ryan Johnson. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she embraced each role—daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother —with unwavering love.
She was a proud and loving mother to Daryl Johnson and Joanie Proctor. Her heart overflowed with joy for her grandchildren—Adalyn, Jaylin, Zoey, and Cooper—who were truly the light of her life. Known to them and many others as “Unga,” Cyndi had a unique gift for making everyone feel like family. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond bloodlines; she loved deeply and gave generously.
Cyndi’s passions included gymnastics and sewing—activities that reflected both her strength and creativity. But above all else, she cherished spending time with her grandbabies. Whether sharing stories, teaching them how to sew, or simply being present in their lives, she found immense happiness in their laughter and love.
Her kindness knew no bounds. Cyndi was known for giving selflessly—always ready to offer help or comfort without hesitation. She would give you the shirt off her back without a second thought. Her warmth made her not just a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother but a cherished friend to many who considered her family.
A celebration of Cyndi’s life will be held at a later date and posted by her daughter when they figure out the time and place.
Cyndi’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with compassion and grace. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
