Denis Roland Croteau passed away on Sunday, April 26th, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Born on April 8, 1954, in Gardner, Massachusetts, he was the son of Barbara Gray and Roland Croteau. Denis was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School, Class of 1973, and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

Denis dedicated 35 years as a member of Local 4 Plumbers and Pipefitters of Worcester, Massachusetts, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and commitment to his trade. In a remarkable act of love and selflessness, he was also a kidney donor to his younger brother, Jerry.

Denis found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved hiking and embraced the beauty of nature with every step, and he found a sense of freedom riding his motorcycle along open roads.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Croteau; his brothers, David Croteau of Mashpee, Cape Cod; Robert Croteau and his wife, Ruby, of Phillipston, Massachusetts; Philip Croteau and his wife, Kim, of Templeton, Massachusetts; and Mark Croteau and his wife, Renee, of Templeton, Massachusetts; his sister, Donna Duguay and her husband, Kurt, of Arizona; his cousin, Bernie Croteau and his wife, Kathy, of Gardner, Massachusetts, and Diane Ellis of Gardner, Massachusetts; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father Roland Croteau and brother Jerry Croteau.

Denis will be remembered for his independent spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the quiet presence he brought to those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Denis was profoundly grateful to Ruby, Diane, Marisa and Meaddow who cared for and supported him over the past four years.

A memorial service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, Massachusetts on Wednesday May 13th at 2pm where Denis will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
