Donald Raymond Gemma, affectionately known as Bud or Don, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Saint Vincent Hospital following a long battle with illness. Born on November 15, 1954, in Leominster, Mr. Gemma led a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family.
A skilled mechanic by profession, Donald took great pride in his work, especially in repairing and maintaining the vehicles of his beloved daughters, a testament to his practical talents and generous spirit. Beyond his career, he found joy in tinkering around the house and fixing cars alongside Darrell Buchanan, whom he regarded fondly as a wannabe son-in-law. His capacity for helping others was a defining trait, reflecting a heart committed to service and care.
Donald’s life was also shaped by his honorable military service in the Army, an experience that further underscored his sense of duty and commitment. Those who knew him best remember his unwavering dedication to family and friends. His favorite memories often revolved around joyful gatherings, including treasured family outings such as visits to the zoo, moments that highlighted his deep familial bonds.
He is survived by his daughters Rebecca Winter, Debbie Gemma, Jennifer Gemma, and Valerie Doyon, as well as his son-in-law Bill Doyon. His family legacy extends to a multitude of cherished grandchildren — Chris, Ashley, Micheal, Joshua, Brian, David, Kaylee, Dezaree, Adalina, Gemma, and Bradford — who also celebrated his life alongside great-grandchildren, ensuring that his memory will continue to live on through generations.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Gemma, who passed in 2021, and his mother, Gloria Caron, who died in 2007. Their memories, along with his, hold a special place in the hearts of all who loved him.
Donald Raymond Gemma was a man whose kindness, expertise, and devotion to family left an indelible mark. His gentle nature and willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
