March 10, 1961 — November 29, 2023

Donald R. Nichols, Sr., 62 of Worcester, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a hardworking individual, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2023, at his home in Worcester, MA. Born on March 10, 1961, in Leominster, MA, Donald led a life filled with joy, passion, and dedication.

Donald was raised in Worcester and attended high school there. From an early age, he showed a strong work ethic and a knack for fixing things. Throughout his career, Donald held various roles including working as build maintenance for a car dealership and as a paver fixing roads and highways. His commitment to his work was evident in every project he undertook.

Outside of work, Donald had a multitude of interests that brought him immense happiness. Growing up, he was very active in the Boy Scouts alongside his parents and grandparents. This experience instilled in him the values of integrity, responsibility, and camaraderie. Donald’s love for scouting continued to influence his life as he grew older.

One of Donald’s favorite pastimes was indulging in antiquing and bargain hunting at flea markets. He had an incredible eye for finding hidden treasures and never missed an opportunity to add to his collection. In addition to being an expert bargain hunter, Donald was an avid New England Patriots fan. Watching football games with his family brought him immense joy and created lasting memories.

Donald’s talent extended beyond finding bargains and watching sports – he was also known as quite the handyman. He loved tinkering with things and found great pleasure in fixing them himself. His resourcefulness often saved the day for family and friends who were grateful for his skills.

Not only was Donald skilled with tools, but he also had a passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for his loved ones. With an appetite larger than life itself, he delighted everyone with his culinary creations. Family gatherings were always special occasions where Donald’s cooking became the centerpiece, filling the air with warmth and tantalizing aromas.

Donald will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Paula F. Nichols, who stood by his side throughout their journey. Donald’s children, Donald R. Nichols Jr.  and his wife April of Millbury, MA; Paul J. Nichols  and his wife Lauren of Millbury, MA and Amy M. Nichols of NH, held a special place in his heart and were a source of great pride for him. He was also a caring stepfather to Michael S. Bartkiewicz of Worcester and Paul M. Green of Worcester.

Donald’s legacy lives on through his brother Joseph Nichols  and his wife Michelle and his beloved grandchildren: Alexander D. Nichols, Thomas M. Nichols, Elianna Green, and Liam Green. These treasured individuals brought immense happiness to Donald’s life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
