Gertrude L. Blanchette

Gertrude L. Blanchette (1937-2023) passed away suddenly at home on 2/23/2023 at the age of 85. She was a 63-year resident of Belchertown, MA. She grew up in Holyoke, MA and was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Holyoke during her childhood and teenage years, and graduated from Holy Rosary School. She was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth, previously of Citrus Springs, FL.

She leaves a son Eugene Blanchette, Jr. of Belchertown, MA; a daughter Sharon Blanchette (Nick Jacobson) of Virginia; a son Scott Blanchette of Northampton, MA; three grandchildren, Regina, Jeffrey, and Scottie; and two great-grandchildren.

In the latter part of her career, she worked at various non-profits as an aide assisting those with developmental disabilities. She was fond of Look Memorial Park in Florence, MA and Buttery Brook Park in South Hadley, MA, where she visited often with her grandchildren when they were young. She also enjoyed playing card games.

Arrangements will private at the request of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund.
