James H. Swain age 63 was born on July 15, 1963, in Norfolk, Virginia. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the kindness he showed and the difference he tried to make in the lives of others.
As friends have shared their memories of James, a common theme has emerged: he was someone who would go out of his way to make others happy, bring a smile to someone's face, or offer comfort when it was needed most. He cared about people and believed in making a difference in his community. Through acts of kindness, compassion, and a willingness to be there for others, James sought to make the world around him a little brighter. Sometimes, the smallest gestures leave the biggest impressions, and the stories shared by those who knew him reflect the impact he had on their lives.
James proudly served in the United States Navy, a meaningful part of his life that will be honored through his final resting place at Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod.
James is survived by his children, Dakota Roundtree Swain and Trevor Hart, as well as Justin Robson, to whom James was a father figure. The bonds we create throughout our lives are built not only through family ties, but also through love, guidance, and the ways we show up for one another. These relationships remain an important part of James's story and the legacy he leaves behind.
Throughout his life, James carried a desire to learn more about his biological family and the relatives he was separated from before his adoption. In the later part of his life, he began making meaningful connections and recently reunited with his nephew, Robert Labason. This connection was an important part of James's journey to learn more about his family history and the people who came before him. Though these connections came later in his life, they remain a meaningful part of his story, and his family hopes to continue that journey of discovery in his memory.
As his loved ones reflect on his life, they are also working to learn more about his family history and reconnect with relatives. Through this journey, they hope to preserve James's story and pass his family history on to future generations.
Though James's life has come to an end, the kindness he showed, the comfort he offered, and the smiles he helped create will continue to live on in the memories of those who knew him. A person's legacy is not measured solely by the years they lived, but also by the lives they touched and the love and compassion they shared along the way.
