Jasumati Dhruva

Jasumati Dhruva, a cherished member of her community, was born on January 6, 1935, in Dhoraji, India to Kantilal and Lalita Gaglani. Wife to Shashikant Dhruva, mother to Uday, Nikhil and Amita and grandmother to Aashana, Aabha, Mira, Abhi and Ani, she led a life rich in experiences and dedicated to her family and friends. Jasumati passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

Throughout her life, Jasumati embodied strength, compassion and a strong will, qualities that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her journey from India to the United States was a testament to her resilience and steadfast commitment to her family. Even moving from the home and community she knew for over three decades, she brought with her a lasting love of literature, politics and her daily yoga practice. 

Jasumati's legacy is one of love and dedication. Her intelligence, warmth, quiet humor and kindness will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. As she departs from this world, she leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting impression on all who loved her.

Jasumati Dhruva will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to resonate in the lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
