Larry Russell Shetler, 74, Shrewsbury, MA
Passed away peacefully at the Christopher House in Worcester on October 22nd with family by his side after a valiant battle with cancer.
Larry was an only child born December 26, 1951, in Williamsport, PA., and is predeceased by his father Maynard Wayne Shetler and his mother Alice Belle (Crecraft) Shetler.
Larry attended South Moreland High School in Pennsylvania where he was Jr and Sr Class President, and he attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs NY graduating with a BA in Sociology.
He worked 20 Years as Associate Director for the City of Providence, RI. Economic Development Department.
Larry is survived by his son Keith Shetler and his wife Heather and his grandson Finnian of Plymouth, MA, his daughter Rachel Hill and her husband William and his granddaughter Corrine of Berkley, MA.
Larry leaves behind his longtime partner Kathi Lewando and many friends and family that will miss him dearly.
Larry had a passion for politics and ran for City Council in Worcester twice. He loved candlelight dinners with Kathi, baseball, football and golf and enjoyed classical music, luxury cars, fine suits and fragrances. He was an avid sportsman and member of the Leicester Rod & Gun Club and was a proud member of the White Eagle in Worcester.
Larry is preceded in death by his son Christian Shetler.
Larry was a "32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason” and member of the Level Lodge in Shrewsbury who will be conducting the memorial ceremony.
Services will be held at the White Eagle 116 Green St Worcester, MA on November 6th at 11:30am
Interment will be private in Barre MA at a later date.
