Marie Allen-Hadge

December 8, 1961 — January 29, 2023

Marie Allen- Hadge known as ReRe to her loved ones and Mimi to her grandchildren passed away in the arms of her children Kevin Allen and Haley Hadge, her daughter in-law Meagan Allen and her husband & partner of 33 years, Ron Hadge. Marie at 61 years old was a 4-year patient at Dana Farber in Boston Massachusetts. Their brilliant teams of doctors helped Marie fiercely respond to stage IV Liver and Lung cancer. Despite their best efforts Marie passed away on Sunday January 29, 2023, in her master bedroom suite looking out over a New-England sunrise at Lake Manchaug in Sutton Mass.

This Wonderful daughter of George and Ethel Allen of Uxbridge Mass was born on December 8, 1961 in South Boston Massachusetts. Marie was married to her surviving and life-long learning partner, husband Ron Hadge. Marie brought two superb lives into this world, her 36-year-old Son Kevin Patrick Allen, and her 20-year-old Daughter Haley Marie Hadge. Both of them surrounded their mom with adoring love. Kevin and his precious wife, Meagan Allen brought two grandchildren into Maries love circle, eight year old Rowan Carolyn Allen and four year old Willow Ryan Allen. Marie’s joy of life could be found basking in her grandchildren and children’s deep, forever, encompassing hugs.

Marie’s parents had a generous group of children. Michael Allen, Marie’s dear and protective youngest brother, Jeannette Thibodeau her sister, Richard, and Robert Allen her brothers. Marie’s brother in law Joseph Hadge revered her loving nature and rallied to her every need. Marie adored her 11 nieces and nephews. She pro-actively acknowledged their birthdays, graduations and professional achievements as loving Aunts often do. Marie’s heart glowed bright to simply love her family unconditionally.

Marie had other sisters in spirit. During her four year graceful response to cancer and the multitude of side-effects from her treatments, Marie bonded with a Sacred group of unconditionally loving women whom rallied to Marie’s terminal diagnosis and administered love, company, consistent visits, hope, spirituality and genuine goodness to Marie’s daily, weekly, and yearly journeys. These heart-centered women set a foundation of acceptance, gratitude, and purpose to Marie’s day-to-day life.

In Maries professional circle she was blessed with multi decade relationships with some of the most brilliant minds in Boston’s booming biotech industry. Marie was a career woman, a Senior Director, exemplar team collaborator – and a lover of applied mathematics, bio-science, physics, and career development of her 30 plus member team under her direction. Marie led by example and was mentored by the superlative Company founders, CEO’s and Vice Presidents that she spent her work life with. Marie was truly loved and valued by her professional sisters and brothers, at Vedanta Biosciences in Cambridge Mass. Marie’s intellect thrived in this environment and her contributions and tireless work-ethic not only were admired and respected but resulted in further promotions looking promising. Marie’s adoring husband witnessed this process as his beloved wife, Marie, earned it. Dynamically, she grew with Boston’s Best and Brightest.

Marie was a high honor student in both high school and College. In her junior year of high school her science teacher urged her to apply to engineering school because her aptitude was stellar. Throughout her career her certifications grew exponentially and her functional competency in the work place had her work output exceeding any expectations asked of her. She pioneered her position of Senior Director of Quality. Marie, like so many of her brilliant women colleagues, found the progressive new age of male colleagues and flourished with them. This reality was such a beautiful cutting edge process to witness and hear about on a daily basis.

Marie kayaked the oceans of Maine and New Hampshire and the lakes and rivers of Massachusetts. She hiked Mt. Monadnock innumerable times and traversed countless hiking trails with friends and family. In her day she biked miles upon miles of bike paths. She skied, snorkeled, played tennis, and loved co-ed softball. Not only could she throw a perfect spiral of a football but when her brother Mike pegged a spiral at her, she simply fingertip caught it and fired it back at him. Marie danced with joy in her eyes and love in her heart. She absorbed the sun at York Beach in Maine during early morning walks during vacation time. Then she hugged, snuggled her kids, grand-kids, and nieces and nephews after hours of family fun on the beach. Marie poured her love out into each moment, each adult and child, every day of her life.

Most recently Marie and her husband Ron designed and constructed their dream lake-house on Manchaug Lake in Sutton Mass. Using innovative construction techniques, along with a Post and Beam lake front view room, Marie worked with the brilliant designer Christina DePina of Worcester and outstanding craftsmen to create her home. Her new home provided her a sanctuary to write inspirational messages and spend time with friends and family.  Ultimately, her Post and Beam room gave her a beautiful space looking out at the lake bursting with bountiful nature to face cancer and then receive her end-of-life hospice care, in her home, on her terms, by her family and hospice teams.

Marie believed family love grew in the core of our souls. As a wife she was Ron’s North Star, guiding, redirecting and always collaborating to improve the outcomes of and for their marriage and loved ones. Interwoven with these values Marie thrived in nature’s glory. Sun filled skies, heavenly star constellations, ocean tides and currents, sailing winds and lake living recharged her inner-self. Her parent’s trip to the White Mountains when Marie was young fueled her passion of outdoor living. Marie felt her parents George and Ethel Allen gave her a gift lasting her a life-time. She brought that gift into her marriage. Marie was thrilled that now her children and grandchildren have that multi-generational spirit in their lives.

Marie’s service will take place Saturday February 18, 2023 at Valley Chapel at 14 Hunter Road in Uxbridge Mass. Contact phone number is 505-278-2315. The wake takes place in the main sanctuary room from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Celebration of Marie’s life will take place in the same Sanctuary room from 11:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 noon. Immediately following, one floor up by stairs or elevator, a luncheon to rejoice and connect friends and family will take place from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.

Typical of Marie, as she was facing her final days, she expressed concern about those things she loved most going on beyond her life. In particular, the cost of Haley’s education deeply concerned her and the lingering final costs of her medical co-pays cause her worry. With this thought, Marie’s friends and colleagues have establish a memorial fund in her name to provide financial support to the family and to causes she supported and believed in (https://gofund.me/4a3d40f5
