July 25, 1944 – April 29, 2026
Maureen A. (Lynch) Lockman, 81, a spirited and determined woman whose strength and warmth touched all who knew her, passed away on April 29, 2025, surrounded by love.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of William and Mary (Campbell) Lynch and graduated from South High School and received her M.Ed from Worcester State University.
A proud mother of four and grandmother of seven, Maureen was known for her confident and strong-willed personality and her unwavering dedication to her family. While raising her children to be strong, she worked multiple jobs and pursued her education, ultimately achieving her goal of becoming a teacher. She went on to serve her community in the classrooms of the Worcester Public Schools for 28 years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students before retiring.
Later in life, she embraced adventure and the life she had always dreamed of, traveling the world and exploring the beauty of the United States in their fifth-wheel trailer alongside her beloved husband, Thomas Lockman. Together, they created countless cherished memories and lived life with curiosity and joy.
In recent years, Maureen faced the challenges of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a difficult and debilitating disease, with remarkable courage. Throughout her illness, she was cared for with deep compassion and devotion by her husband and the exceptional staff at Notre Dame Hospice Care, whose kindness brought comfort in her final chapter.
Maureen will be remembered for her resilience, her sharp wit, and the fierce love she had for her family. She would want all of you to get outside, cultivate some friends, and embrace any and all adventures!
She was predeceased by her son Brian A. Rice, her brother Joseph K. Lynch, and her sister Katie E. (Lynch) O’Brien.
She was dearly loved and will be missed every day by her husband of 36 years; her children, Jim A. Rice (Katie) of Oceanside, CA, Deirdre A. Carlson (Kurt) of Auburn, MA, and Juli Rice of Boston, MA; her cherished grandchildren, Gryphn, Gunar, and Emerson Allen; Conor and Shay Carlson; and Lily and Henry Rice; her five brothers, William B.
