Maureen Rita Murray

Maureen “Grammy” Murray, 89, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025.

For more than 50 years, Maureen dedicated her life to nursing, caring for others with compassion and grace. She touched countless lives through her profession and will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to service.

She is survived by her children Patrick Murray of Worcester, MA; Mary Murray of Ayer, MA; Maureen (Michael) Payne of Hopkins, SC; David Murray of Mansfield, MA; and Michael Murray of Florida, her brother James Sullivan of Hudson, MA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a proud grandmother to Michael Karpowski (Riley and Carter), Katelyn Bancroft (Jacob and Jayden), Tristin Murray, Jarrid Tweedly, David Mistretta, Kalli Payne, Emily Payne, Brianna Foster (Casey), Jada Raferzeder-Moison, Donovan Raferzeder-Moison, Courtney Raferzeder-Moison, Paige Murray, and Leigh Murray. 

Her happiest times were spent being with her family, playing bingo, enjoying coffee, traveling, and coloring — simple joys that brought her comfort and connection with those she loved.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband Michael, her son Sean, her grandson Sean, her brothers Junior, Richard, Edward, and her sister Rosemary.

Maureen’s strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 3 PM at 18 Pond Street, Ayer, MA. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
