Michael McCain, 69, of Uxbridge, MA, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born on April 6, 1956, in Lynchburg, VA, he was the oldest son of the late Gayzetta McCain. Michael was the beloved husband of the late Cheryl Murray. Growing up in Franklin Hill, and quickly always making lots of friends, Michael fell in love with music and started collecting records to the point that there wasn't any room left to put them anywhere else. He got that part from our mother.
After staying in Boston, MA, for many years, Michael decided he needed a change of scenery. In 1992, Michael moved to Worcester and secured a job at McLean Hospital's Ambulatory Treatment at Naukeag, which is when he discovered his calling as a recovery counselor. He always wanted to help people rebuild their lives after treatment.
During this time, a wonderful lady walked into his life, and he knew that Cheryl would be his wife one day.
In 2006, Michael married his longtime companion, Cheryl, and they enjoyed reading books, having dinner together, cooking, and each other's love. Michael loved collecting train sets, playing video games, reading a good book, and being around family.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Pardita McCain of Chelsea, MA, and Faye Slayton of Brockton, MA; three brothers, Lawrence McCain of Boston, MA, Mr. & Mrs. Nelson McCain of Weymouth, MA, and Alan Taylor of Boston, MA; and a host of friends.
Mr. McCain's family would like to thank the Nurses, CNAs, and Staff of the Blackstone Valley Health & Rehabilitation and JHC Hospice for all the kindness and loving care they gave to Michael during his time there.
