Myrna Dale Varteresian

Myrna Dale (Baer) Varteresian, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 26, 2024 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus following a long battle with cancer and ongoing health complications. Myrna was born on September 24, 1951, in Worcester, MA and graduated from Burncoat High School in 1970. Myrna worked in the service industry and in office administration for many years before retiring. Myrna touched the lives of many with her love for family, friends and animals.

Those who knew Myrna will always remember her for her love of cats, grape decor, trips to the ice cream shop, fuzzy electric blankets, and her love for hosting family gatherings and holidays. She would go above and beyond to ensure that everyone had their favorite dish, creating unforgettable memories for all who gathered around her table. In addition to her passion for hosting gatherings, Myrna adored her kitties and grandkitties, finding joy and comfort in their companionship.

Myrna is survived by her children Renee Messier of Webster and Scott Messier and his fiancé Bonnie Rice of Moyock, North Carolina, her sister  Rev. Joyce Gambon of Roanoke, Virginia as well as three brothers: Mark Riley of Bakersville, North Carolina, Matthew Riley and his wife Patricia Riley of Tariffville, Connecticut and Stephen Riley and his wife Kimberly Riley of Northborough. Myrna also leaves behind her granddaughters Stephanie Tozer and her husband John Tozer and their family of Webster, Danielle Messier of Worcester, and grandsons Jacob Messier, Nathan Messier, and Brian Messier of Worcester. Myrna also leaves behind her dear friend Phil who held a special place in her heart.

Myrna is preceded in death by her beloved husband and partner of 26 years, Edward Varteresian, her sister Laura Collette Riley, mother Gloria (Swartz) Riley and her father Fontaine Riley. Myrna's kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished by many and that her legacy of love and hospitality will live on in the hearts of those she has left behind.

All services will be private. Comfort Cremation Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with her arrangements.
