Peggy Caraco Whiteley, born September 17, 1941, in Hawthorne, California, passed away on November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
She was a devoted mother to her sons Jeffrey, Matthew, and Philip, and a caring mother-in-law to Julie, Claudia, and Leah. She adored her grandchildren Matias, Nicolas, Greyson, Charlotte, and Michael, who brought her endless joy. She also leaves behind a close circle of extended family, including sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, with whom she remained deeply connected throughout her life.
Peggy began her career as a kindergarten teacher in the Wellesley Public Schools, where her warmth and patience left a lasting impression on countless young children. Following her entrepreneurial spirit, she founded Color Your Image, helping people feel confident and seen. She later built a successful career as Sales Director of Huckins Farm Community in Bedford, MA, a community she loved deeply. She enjoyed living there for more than 25 years and especially treasured the tranquil meadow views alive with horses, deer, and birds. She went on to serve as Director of Marketing at Carleton Willard, a nonprofit continuing-care retirement community known for its welcoming campus and dedication to senior care. She was deeply respected for her dedication, compassion, and gift of supporting people during some of the most delicate moments of their lives.
A person of deep faith, Peggy devoted herself to the causes she cared about. She trained and served in the Stephen Ministry through her church, a program in which volunteers provide one-on-one support to individuals facing difficult times, putting her faith into action through compassion and presence. She was passionately committed to helping the underprivileged, protecting the environment, and safeguarding animals, particularly elephants and marine life. In retirement, she continued her giving spirit by volunteering at Carleton Willard, offering comfort and companionship to hospice patients, and contributing her time to the local Food Bank and The Friends of the Bedford Council on Aging.
Peggy was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and the faith that guided her life. Her bright spirit, warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 7, at 2 pm at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA, followed by a Celebration of Life at the chapel. In honor of Peggy’s love of color, guests are invited to wear something bright and colorful in her memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Bedford Food Pantry, a charity Peggy held close to her heart.
