Shawn Thomas Dunn Sr.

Shawn Thomas Dunn Sr., known as Shawn Alexander during his high school days and lovingly called “Wimpy” by his brother, passed away on August 7, 2026. Born on August 16, 1971, in Reno, Nevada, Shawn’s life was marked by devotion to his family, a deep sense of reliability, and a helping hand to all those around him.

Shawn was son of Patricia Demore and Warren Dunn, both of whom have preceded him in death. He leaves behind his siblings, Bruce Martin, Mike Martin, Michelle Barranco and Lisa Nelson. Shawn also leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and others whose lives were enriched by his presence.

He was a graduate of Pathfinder Regional Vocational Tech School, where he laid the foundations for a lifelong career as a Master Electrician. Highly skilled, Shawn earned the respect of peers and clients alike for his expertise.

Shawn’s life was not without formidable challenges. Ten years ago, he overcame an aggressive form of brain cancer - glioblastoma - a victory that many considered nothing short of miraculous. In recent years, he faced additional health struggles with remarkable strength.

What truly set Shawn apart was his love for his family. He is survived by his beloved children—Brianna Dunn, Shawn Dunn Jr., and Bethany Dunn—each a testament to his legacy of strength and independence. Shawn’s proudest accomplishment, by his own measure, was raising strong, independent children. He delighted in spending time with them, never turning down an opportunity to make memories and reminding them to “push forward” during life’s setbacks.

As a grandfather, Shawn’s heart swelled with pride and joy. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Carson Chenevert, Noah Dunn-Manzi, Benton Dunn-Manzi, Emberlyn Chenevert, Isla Chenevert, and Daisy Connell.

Shawn’s spirit extended beyond his family. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, spending time in nature, toying with anything that had a motor and wheels, dreaming of storms, solving puzzles, and building model cars. His passions and interests reflected a curious mind and someone appreciative of the simple joys in life.

Today, as family and friends gather to honor his memory, they remember a man whose legacy is one of generosity, and steadfastness. Though profoundly missed, he will be celebrated and cherished by all who knew him, now and always.
