Susan J. (Palmquist) Woodworth, 68, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at her home in Northbridge, MA, surrounded by her family, friends, and her beloved Papillon, Zoey.
Susan grew up & lived in the Marlboro, MA area for much of her life, referring to it as her 'Hometown'. Throughout her career, Susan held many unique jobs, including a position at a Mississippi naval base shipyard. She ultimately found her niche in the corporate world, working for companies such as Prime Computer, Quaker Oats, The Horseman’s Yankee Peddler, and CIO Publishing, where she managed the circulation department for many years before her retirement.
Susan found joy in gardening. With her keen eye for beauty and the greenest of thumbs, it was no surprise when the Marlboro Neighborhood Garden Society honored her with a Certificate of Excellence for her beautiful yard. She also loved traveling, especially her many trips to Cancun—her “Happy Place.” She often shared these vacations with extended family and close friends, believing happiness was best when enjoyed together. Lifelong friendships were among her greatest treasures; she maintained close bonds with her childhood friends, Deborah Nord and Ann Buxton, who stood by her side for more than 55 years.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Lindsay Woodworth and her fiancé, Darrell, of Nashville, TN, Erin Woodworth and her fiancé, Richard Chimera, of Worcester, MA. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandson, Michael J. Walls of Northbridge, MA. Susan is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Palmquist of Millbury, MA, and Diane Johnson of Warwick, RI, as well as her much-loved mother-in-law, Gloria (Boule) Woodworth of Marlborough, MA; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended in-law family.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Kenneth C. “Woody” Woodworth; her father, Glenn Palmquist; her mother, Lorraine E. (Beauregard) Palmquist; and her sister, Lynn (Palmquist) LeBlanc.
Susan and Woody shared a love story that was a true testament to lasting devotion. Their first date marked the beginning of a journey that gave her two young daughters a wonderful father and created more than 40 years of laughter, love, and unwavering support. When Woody passed on March 13, 2023, he left her with treasured memories she carried deep in her heart. Now, her loved ones find comfort in knowing that Susan is once again in Woody’s loving arms, reunited and free from pain.
Animals also held a special place in Susan’s heart. From an early age, she showed deep affection for horses, dogs, and cats—especially those in need of rescue. Growing up with horses instilled a passion she was thrilled to pass on to her daughters. Together with Woody, she ensured they had the chance to form their own bonds with these majestic animals, creating countless cherished memories along the way.
Susan will be forever remembered in the hearts of all who loved her.
