Thomas John Yovicsin passed away on May 1, 2026. Better known as Tom, Tommy, or “Uncle Bobo” to his many nieces and nephews, Tom was born on September 6, 1951, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to John and Betty Yovicsin. He grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts, before settling in Ashland, where he worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for more than thirty years. He is predeceased by his parents and his beloved brother, David, and is survived by his brother Don and sister Ann.
Tom was a quiet soul. Though reserved at first, those who took the time to know him were rewarded with sharp humor and a laugh that rang out suddenly and unmistakably — the kind that turned heads and made you laugh along with him. He loved cats, golf, football, his sports car, and his family. He grew up watching his father coach football at Harvard University and remained a devoted college and professional football fan throughout his life. He never arrived at family Christmas without a stack of scratch-off lottery tickets in hand and was known to slip quietly out of gatherings without saying goodbye — a subtle exit that became part of his signature.
Tom lived simply and on his own terms. While he did not seek the spotlight, his presence — wry and unmistakably his — will be missed by those who knew and loved him, and by anyone lucky enough to have heard that laugh.
The family will be holding a private gathering.
