Ticina Andrea Cotto, lovingly known as Cina, was born on February 8, 1982, in Monterey Park, California, and left this earth far too soon on January 8, 2026, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Throughout her life, Ticina embodied love, creativity, and magic. She was a force—filling every space she entered with laughter, joy, and profound insight. A gifted actress, writer, singer, and storyteller, she found her voice and purpose through creative expression. She studied at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in high school and later pursued a degree in Theatre Arts at Mount Holyoke College.
Her voice was pure, powerful, and unforgettable. She loved singing with her friends, effortlessly taking listeners on an emotional journey each time she performed. Ticina left an indelible mark on the stage, earning recognition for her outstanding performance in When the Rain Stops Falling before stepping away from school to focus on her health.
Above all, Ticina’s greatest pride and devotion came from being a mother to her beloved son, Ever Oceans. Their bond was a source of unparalleled strength and joy, giving her the courage to face life’s challenges with grace and dignity. Being Ever’s mom was the most profound honor of her life, as evidenced by the deep love and care she showed him every day.
To those who knew her, Ticina was far more than a mother or performer; she was the heart of her chosen family. With her big brown eyes shining bright and her larger-than-life laugh echoing through every room, she was a nurturing presence who made everyone feel seen, safe, and loved. Her hugs were legendary, and her ability to light up even the darkest days was a gift she shared freely.
Ticina was a treasure trove of wisdom, always ready with a witty remark or a moment of clarity when someone needed it most. Her love of literature—whether reading plays or immersing herself in the works of Jane Austen—only deepened her already rich inner world. Even in the face of adversity, she remained steadfast, never allowing life’s hardships to consume her. Her faith in God and Jesus Christ guided her with quiet strength and grace.
Curious and endlessly thoughtful, Ticina loved math and learning about science, medicine, cultures, politics, and spirituality. When something captured her interest, she devoted herself fully to understanding it—she was truly a sponge for knowledge.
She was also a fierce advocate for herself, working tirelessly to put herself through school, an achievement she held among her proudest, alongside motherhood. Ticina’s laughter, creativity, and vibrant spirit set off a ripple of joy that extended far beyond her own life, leaving lasting impressions on everyone she met.
Ticina leaves behind her greatest love, her son, Ever Oceans; her devoted life partner, Dora Borrero; and her loving sister, Tiffany Ashley Cotto, who wishes to thank her big sister for being her second mother, her best friend, and her lifelong inspiration. She is also survived by her cherished companions—her cat, Emma, and her puppies, Cookie and Winnifred—and by a wide circle of dear friends, devoted nurses, and chosen family whose lives were forever changed by her love. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Domingo Cotto, who surely welcomed her home with open arms.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Ticina’s legacy by supporting her beloved son. Contributions to Ever’s UTMA custodial account will help provide stability, opportunity, and care as he grows. We are deeply committed to surrounding this incredibly sweet, brave, and emotionally intelligent young man with the resources and support he needs to thrive and pursue his dreams in the years ahead.
As we remember Ticina, we are reminded of the legacy she leaves behind—a life defined by love, warmth, resilience, and an unshakeable spirit. Though her time on this earth was far too short, her soul is now at peace, embraced by God in Heaven, and her light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
