In Loving Memory of Todd Winslow
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Todd Winslow, 60, following a brief illness. Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Meryle Winslow, and his cherished niece, Caitlin. Todd is survived by his sister Tracy Winslow, spouse Julie Winslow, his beloved stepdaughters Mae and Ellla McDuffie, best friend John Bernazani as well as many other dear friends and family.
From a young age Todd was known as the family's Mr. Fix-It. He was the go-to guy for all things computers and technology. If something wasn't working Todd was the one everyone turned to.
Todd was an avid sports fan who loved attending family and friends' sporting events and cheering on his favorite Boston teams. One of his greatest joys was being in the stands, cheering on his step daughters, nephews, goddaughter, and the children of close family friends. He took tremendous pride in supporting the people he loved and was always among their biggest fans.
Some of Todd's greatest joys in life came from listening to music and going to concerts. He also loved spending time with animals, especially his favorite Golden Doodle Elizabeth and Bichon Frise Baby Girl.
His love of sports began long before adulthood. In little league baseball he was a great pitcher helping his team win the town championship. During his years at Saugus High, Todd served as equipment manager of both the hockey and soccer teams. Even when life's circumstances made participating in sports more challenging, his passion for athletics never diminished. Personally Todd faced significant physical challenges throughout his life. Despite this he was an avid golfer and volunteered for the LPGA tour. Following his first surgery he refused to let his disability define him or limit his determination. In an extraordinary display of courage and perseverance, he went on to try out for the Paralympic downhill ski team. His love of skiing and the outdoors brought him to Mount Sunapee where he volunteered with the New England Healing Sports Association, helping others experience the freedom, joy, and possibilities of adaptive sports. Todd understood what it meant to overcome obstacles, and perhaps that is why he found such happiness in watching others pursue their own dreams.
He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to showing up for the people who mattered to him. Though he may no longer be in the stands cheering, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to be celebrated by those who loved him. He was always one of their biggest fans, and he will be deeply missed.
In keeping with Todd's wishes, there will be no funeral services, as he was never fond of funerals. Instead, his life will be celebrated with a memorial dinner at a later date. Details will be shared as they become available.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Todd to New England Handicapped Sports Association at the following link:
