Wayne Howard Martin

Wayne Howard Martin, 65, of Charlton Ma, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 8, 2023.

Wayne was born in Atlanta GA in 1958 and moved to Hendersonville, TN in his youth where he attended Hendersonville High School. While there, he enjoyed Band and Football. Upon graduating in 1977, Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz traveling the world. After being discharged, Wayne resided in Portsmouth NH where he met his wife Karen. They were married on December 9, 1995 and in 1996 moved to Georgia to be with his mother. While in Georgia, Wayne worked at Avis Rent a Car, Papa John’s and Walmart. Wayne retired in 2018 and in 2019 Wayne and Karen moved to Massachusetts to be with family. In 2021, Wayne was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer and beat the odds twice. Wayne was always an avid supporter of veterans, first with the American Legion Post 6 in Portsmouth NH and then transferring to Post 0258 in Jonesboro GA.

Wayne will always be remembered for his kindness towards everyone he ever met and the way he embraced the love of his family. We will always imagine him saying “Howdy” when he walked into a room one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better, more loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and Papa. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his mother June Smith and his two sisters, Sherry and Andrea. He is survived by his loving wife Karen Martin of Charlton MA, brother Jeffrey Martin of Hendersonville TN and his wife Diane and their three girls and His father William Andrew Martin of TN. Wayne also leaves behind his son James LaChance and his wife Stephanie and daughter Bryce with whom he resided with in Charlton MA. His son William LaChance and wife Erika of Dudley MA, his son Bradford LaChance and his girlfriend Dionne Fennell of Sturbridge MA and his son Adam LaChance and his wife Amy of Norwich CONN, four grandsons, eleven granddaughters, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter. A memorial will be planned in the spring.
